EMS/Fire Suppression
The Fire Department has staffing and operational plans in place aimed at reducing the response time and enhancing service delivery from the four fire stations that serve the township. The township also contracts with Forest Park and Greenhills Fire Departments to provide emergency medical and fire suppression services to properties located in the northern section of the township. In addition to hundreds of training hours spent annually on educating personnel, the Fire Department is also proud of having some of the most advanced equipment in the area. Fire suppression equipment includes five engines, a 75' Quint (ladder truck), and a medium duty rescue truck.
Emergency Medical Services (EMS) are provided by four paramedic units that carry Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) equipment such as 12 lead cardiac monitor/defibrillators, cellular telemetry and Academy of Medicine approved pharmaceuticals. The Springfield Township Fire Department recently passed a site visit review by the Academy of Medicine of Cincinnati and was judged to be in compliance with the standards established to function under its auspices for a three-year period.
Paramedic service is provided to the entire township. In addition, the Township Trustees contract with the City of Forest Park and the Village of Greenhills for service to certain areas in the northern portion of the Township.
