Personnel

The Police Department is a full service organization made up of 50 full-time sworn officers, two part-time sworn officers and other civilian personnel and includes the following specialized divisions:

• Detectives
• Vice
• DARE
• School Resource Officers
• Bike Patrols
• K-9 Unit
• Traffic Safety Officers
• START (Springfield Township Arrest and Response Team)

Advanced training of personnel is an on-going process in order to bring the latest technology and methods of crime prevention to township residents. Several members of the management team are graduates of the Police Executive Leadership College. Police Chief David Heimpold, Assistant Chief Robert Browder and Lieutenant David Schaefer are also graduates of the FBI National Academy. Chief Heimpold is the first Certified Law Enforcement Executive in Hamilton County.
