After School Art Club
Grades 2-6 on Wednesdays, 4:00 - 5:00 p.m.
Program Description: If art class is your favorite subject in school, you will love Springfield Township's new After School Art Club! In each month-long session, you will work toward the completion of a master art project! Each month holds a different theme and focuses on the popular art projects. Best yet, you will be in a class with students from different schools who also love art. Make new friends who like the same things you do and become more skilled in the field you love! Because this program takes place right after school, students are encouraged to bring a snack and a drink with them to class.
About the Instructor: Emily Neff will be instructing the After School Art Club for all grade levels. She graduated with a degree in Studio Art from Denison University, then obtained her Masters in Art Education from Miami University. She completed her student teaching for Talawanda Schools, then taught art with the Finneytown Local School District for six years. She has sold and exhibited artwork regionally and continues to explore all types of art media in her spare time.
Class Fees: Class fees are payable by credit card or by check. Check payments should be made payable to Springfield Township and mailed to the attention of "Art Club" at 9150 Winton Road, Cincinnati Ohio 45231. Credit card payments can be made over the phone or through the *online registration. Class fees must be paid one week prior to the session starting. Class fees cannot be pro-rated nor refunded.
*There is a 4% PayPal fee applied to payments made online.
Class Cancelations and Weather Closings: A minimum of 9 students must be enrolled for each session to take place. (Maximum 25 students) If Springfield Township cancels a session due to low enrollment, session fees can either be reimbursed or transferred to another session.The Springfield Township Senior and Community Arts Center follows Finneytown School District inclement weather closings. To verify closings, call 522-1154. If class is canceled by Springfield Township, a make up for the class will be scheduled. A refund will not be issued.

Class Descriptions:
Jan - 5 weeks - Creative Collage
We will explore various materials and ways to create collages. We will begin by using silhouettes to create personalized collages and conclude with three dimension collages using tissue paper on bottles to create vases.
Feb - 4 weeks - Stylized Lettering Names
Students will investigate various forms of lettering. They will design and draw their own large-scale name, learn about color and value, and color their designs with Sharpie and colored pencil.
March - 4 weeks - Picasso-style Sculptures
Students will create a sculpture with a wood block, a wire coat hanger, and panty hose. Then they will gesso and paint over the sculpture to create a Picasso-like head. Details like hair will be added with yarn, markers and other materials.
April - 4 weeks - Oil Pastel Resist "Under the Sea"
Students will create an "under the sea" drawing with pencil and then go over it with Sharpie. They will color their drawing with oil pastels and paint over them with watercolor paint.
May - 5 weeks - Doodle Dancer with Self-Hardening Clay
Students will create a "marionette" with self-hardening clay and then use fine-line markers to cover it with expressive designs.
