Fire Prevention Month Poster Contest

The Springfield Township Fire Department in conjunction with the State of Ohio Fire Marshal's Office is excited to announce the Fire Safety Poster Contest.   The purpose of this contest is to apply a fire safety principle to artwork. The contest is open to all elementary students in grades 1-3 and 4-5. There will be awards for the top three finishers in each grade category with the first place award winners sent to compete at the State level.   ALL SELECTED WINNERS WILL BE PICKED UP IN A FIRE ENGINE AND TAKEN TO THE FIRE STATION FOR A PIZZA PARTY! Most of all, our hope is for the children to learn and have fun in taking part of this poster contest. Please take this opportunity to reinforce the life saving skills of Fire Prevention with your students.   We will come to your school to pick up the completed posters on September 29th. The winners will be recognized at our Open House on Saturday October 1^st. Make sure all posters have the students name, teacher, grade level, and school name on the back of them. Please refer to the State Poster Rules on the back so the artists avoid disqualification. Please call (513) 851-3030 for any questions.  

RULES FOR FIRE SAFETY POSTERS 

·      Posters must follow the fire safety theme.  

·      Posters should emphasis “positive” behavior statements (what should be done), 

           example: Child with matches – should indicate, “Give matches to an adult.” Rather 

           than, “Don’t play with matches.”  

·      Posters must be on 8.5 by 11 inch paper – larger sizes will not be considered.  

·      Any colors may be used. A white or light colored background is preferred.  

·      Crayons, markers, pencils, etc., can be used.  

·      All artwork must be original. No computer generated artwork or photographs may be 

          used. Clippings from magazines, newspapers,and books are not appropriate.  

·      The poster surface should remain flat.  

·      All posters become the property of the Division of State Fire Marshal and may not be 

          returned. (Please copy or photograph your artwork before submitting it.)    

Information on the back of each poster should include:  

• Name of student

• Grade and age of Student 

• Name of Fire Department (Springfield Township Fire Department)

•Name of School

•Classroom or Teachers name 

•Address and phone number of school
