Electrical Aggregation
ELECTRIC AGGREGATION NOT RENEWING
The current Community electric aggregation program expires in January 2023. The goal for Energy Alliances, Springfield Township’s energy consultant, was to find an alternative supplier able to beat Duke Energy Ohio’s (Duke) default generation supply rate of 6.78¢ per kWh* before the program’s expiration. After thorough analysis, Energy Alliances did not find a supplier that could compete with Duke’s rate and suggested to the Township that they not renew the electric aggregation program at this time. To look out for the best interest of the Township and its residents, Energy Alliances recommended that all the accounts on the program to go back to Duke’s default generation supply rate until such time as a competitive rate can be obtained from an approved supplier(s).
Energy Alliances will continue to watch the market and plans to bring options to the Township if they see a favorable opportunity. The earliest the program would return is likely Spring of 2023.

As an eligible resident or small business, you will automatically be enrolled in the program unless you choose to opt-out.

- One energy bill from Duke Energy, your local utility.

- Duke Energy continues to deliver your electricity and maintain the electric lines and respond to emergencies.
Program Enrollment
After your finalized enrollment, Duke Energy will send a letter confirming your enrollment and informing you of your ability to cancel your enrollment with no penalty. How to Opt-Out
If you do not wish to participate, you must opt-out no later than December 13, 2019. You can do this by completing and returning the reply card or calling Dynegy toll-free at 888-682-2170.Savings
The program has collectively saved Springfield residents and small businesses over $9.3 million since its inception in June 2009. That translates to $965 per participating residential account.Price to Compare
In addition to this seasonal consideration, other components of Duke’s PTC change quarterly. Thus Duke’s PTC is unknown beyond the current quarter, while Dominion Retail’s price is fixed. The amount you will save over the term of the contract is unknown because Duke’s price is unknown, but we believe that with the program price of 5.28 cents/k you stand a very good chance of saving over the life of the program, in addition to the peace of mind of knowing that your rate will not go up.
