[ARCHIVED] Warder Nature Preserve Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

warder - low res

The Springfield Township Public Works Department has accomplished a remarkable transformation of the former Warder Nursery into a beautiful nature preserve over the past year. Here are the highlights of what has been achieved:

Invasive Plant Eradication: The dedicated team has worked tirelessly to eliminate invasive plants from the area, ensuring a more natural and healthy environment for local flora and fauna.

Pond Dredging: The pond in the preserve has been dredged, likely improving water quality and making it an even more inviting feature for visitors.

Paved Path: A half-mile paved path has been created, providing a convenient and accessible route for residents to explore and enjoy the preserve.

This marks the completion of Phase 1 of a three-phase plan to enhance the area and create a passive attraction for the community. The space has now become an ideal location for activities like jogging, dog walking, and simply enjoying the beauty of nature.

You are invited to be a part of this exciting project by attending the ribbon-cutting ceremony, which will take place on October 21st at 10:00 a.m. Join the township trustees, Administrative Staff and the Public Works Department for this special occasion. During the event, you'll have the opportunity to take a self-guided tour of the preserve and gain insight into the next two phases of the project.

Event Details:

Date: October 21st

Time: 10:00 a.m.

Location: The former Whitaker Elementary School is the designated parking area. The program will occur next to the new Warder Nature Preserve sign.

This project promises to provide a wonderful outdoor space for the community to enjoy, and the ribbon-cutting ceremony is a great chance to celebrate the progress that has been made so far and to learn about the exciting plans for the future. Don't miss this opportunity to connect with nature and your community.
